Portable altars and other objects such as “dollies” are used by the Shaman as a means of healing, transforming, or prayer to the spirits. Each object acts as a portal or gateway through which spirits move back and forth from Upper and Lower Worlds into the Middle (present) World. These objects help to focus the minds of both client and shaman.
